How to Merge Two Images (and Combine Multiple Photos)
Want to put two photos side-by-side or create a multi-page photo album? Here are the best ways to merge images.
"Merging" can mean two things: making a collage (side-by-side) or making a multi-page document.
Goal 1: Create a Multi-Page File (PDF)
If you want to send someone 5 photos in one file, don't make a giant collage. It's hard to print. Instead, combine them into a PDF.
- Upload images to JPG to PDF.
- The tool places each image on its own page.
- You get one clean, scrollable file.
Goal 2: Side-by-Side (Collage)
If you want two images in one single image file (like a "Before & After" shot):
Using Paint (Windows)
- Open Image A in Paint.
- Expand the canvas size to the right.
- Paste Image B.
- Drag it next to Image A.
- Save as JPG.
Using Online Tools
Tools like Canva or simple "Photo Joiner" websites are great for side-by-side merging.
Tips
- Resolution: When merging side-by-side, if one image is tiny and one is huge, it looks weird. Resize them to match height first.
- Format: Save photos as JPG for smaller size, or PNG if you need transparency.
Merging images correctly depends on your goal. For documents? Use PDF. For social media? Use a collage.
